Question: How does this New Moon support the Heart?
The Spread (click on card name to view image or scroll down to view spread):
Summary of Interpretation:
This New Moon supports the Heart’s unconventional wisdom in its entirety, offering no resources to endeavors that have run out of time in reaching success, but sustaining clarity in practical matters.
Tidbit about Egyptian mythology:
Maat is both an ancient Egyptian word and the name of an Egyptian goddess. The word maat meant all encompassing truth in the context of a pluralistic society and how the members of it should conduct themselves with honor and consideration for the forward movement of society on an ethical level. Goddess Maat wore an ostrich feather in her crown. This feather was used to determine the weight of the heart (soul) of an individual at the time of death. If the heart was lighter or equal to the ostrich feather, the soul passed onward into Aaru (heavenly paradise). If the heart weighed more than the feather, it was consumed by the lionness Ammit, who attended every weighing ceremony. Therefore, the concept of maat in everyday life had prominent significance. Additionally, it involved searching one’s own heart (soul) for its interpretation instead of referencing a set of codified dogmas and doctrines.
Moving forward with the meaningful seeds of the Spread:
Trump VIII signifies the weighing process the ancient Egyptians undertook in their spiritual reflections. The ostrich feather of Maat is in the headdress of the central figure, and the scales are present. Weigh the Heart’s satisfaction with one’s life in general, and then weigh the Heart’s response to the details and components of one’s life as well. Ask the Heart about any components of life that are altogether missing, and initiate their inclusion with the support of this New Moon. Reflect on the difference between initiatives that have heartfelt values in the present moment, and initiatives aimed to move one up a ladder of wealth and status with some ideals mixed in. Meet the utterings of the Heart with courageous optimism (the central figure of this card is the Fool/Harlequin from Trump 0) and appeal to the New Moon and one’s own guides for support.
Pay no further attention to that which has lost meaning (8 of Cups shows a few puddles of the water of life spilled over unfertile terrain). Continue to attend to practical matters with ongoing skill and dexterity (Princess of Swords skillfully wields the sword of analysis and her green and blue attire contribute creativity and wisdom to matters the mind must manage).
